Help Shape Virginia’s Outdoor Recreation
Agenda!
|
I’m excited to share some news that belongs to
all of us! I’ve been invited to serve
on the Planning Committee for the Virginia Legislative Outdoor
Recreation Caucus, where I’ll represent the interests of outdoor
businesses across our region through the VA MTNS Outdoor
Collective. For those unfamiliar, the
caucus brings together members of the General Assembly, state agencies,
industry leaders, nonprofits, and other partners to identify
opportunities that strengthen outdoor recreation in Virginia. While the
committee itself doesn’t write legislation, it helps shape conversations
and priorities that can influence policy, funding, and investment across
the state. The
important part is this: I don’t want to represent just my ideas. I want
to represent yours. Whether
it’s workforce challenges, trail access, business regulations, outdoor
rec tourism, public lands, infrastructure, permitting, funding
opportunities, or something entirely different, I want to hear what
matters most to your business and your community. What are the biggest opportunities you see?
What barriers are getting in your way?
If you had five minutes with state leaders, what would
you ask them to focus on? Send me a
note and share your thoughts. Nothing is too big or too small. As themes
begin to emerge, I’ll make sure they’re part of the conversations
happening at the state level. This is
one of the reasons we created the Collective in the first place. One
business can be overlooked. Dozens of businesses speaking with one voice
are much harder to ignore. Thanks for
trusting me to represent you. I’m looking forward to carrying your ideas
into these conversations! Michael
